Through its current and previous formative and operational research, CGSW researchers have undertaken the following specific applied research activities in WASH in Healthcare Facilities:
- Tested over 7,500 samples of water from healthcare facilities in five countries.

- Tested knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) regarding WASH and infection prevention and control (IPC) of more than 450 clinical staff and hospital cleaners through surveys, interviews and observational studies.
- Conducted research within the community surrounding the hospital to understand the impact of GEF’s safe water program (>3,000 surveys in Rwanda)
- Conducted microbiological studies within the healthcare facility to understand the link between inadequate WASH infrastructure and environmental contamination in maternity wards.
- Presented research findings and lessons learned on WASH in HCF at 77 conferences and meetings between 2013 and 2017.
- Created the WASH in Healthcare Facilities Initiative, an online webinar-based learning platform which as directly reached 191 international WASH in HCF professionals.
